You won't see any tubs of ice cream at Sub Zero. That's because the treat you order is frozen into creation right before your eyes. Featured on ABC's Shark Tank, the ice-cream shop relies on the quick-freezing power of liquid nitrogen to whip up customized frozen desserts from a liquid base in 15 seconds or less. This speedy process does more than get customers their treats faster: because the water molecules in the cream don't have time to form ice crystals, the resulting ice cream is extra smooth and creamy.

The process also allows for virtually limitless combinations of flavors. Customers start by choosing their base, which ranges from premium cream and custard to low-fat milk to dairy-free options such as soy and rice milk. Next, select as many as you'd like from nearly 50 ice-cream flavors and more than two-dozen mix-ins such as cookie dough, mango chunks, and Butterfinger crumbles. Customers can even choose the ice cream's texture: the longer it's frozen, the firmer the final product.
