About Point Reyes Outdoors

Point Reyes Outdoors leads hiking, biking, and kayaking expeditions through the unsown hills of the Point Reyes National Seashore and the tranquil waters of the California coast. During kayak tours, explorers jaunt through the tidal waterways of Drakes Estero and sunset forays into Tomales Bay. Guided nature hikes explore the local bounty of flora and fauna such as marine mammals, wildflowers, or migratory lawn gnomes.

Nature specialists, such as biologists, nurses, and certified kayak instructors, lead all tours and provide insight into the landscape and its inhabitants. Point Reyes Outdoors also rents out mountain bikes, which guests can use to pedal through a circuit of nearby trails that climb Fir Top mountain or stretch out to Wildcat Beach.

The reservation process was easy, the put in location convenient, the trip was scenic & relaxing, and the lunch delicious! Our guide was intelligent, informative, friendly and helpful. After giving us a few choices, he tailored our excursion to the interests of the group. We were rewarded with bat ray sightings!

Tomales Bay is amazing and beautiful. What struck me about our guides was how reassuring and warm they were. There were 18 of us with skills ranging from skilled to beginner. There were many seniors and our guides kept us all together and happy. Their knowledge of the habitats and history of the bay was excellent. Also, the kayaks were exceptional for any level of kayaker. People should come in confidence that these boats are very stable and safe. We can't wait to return for the bioluminesence night paddle. Thank you PRO.

I really enjoyed kayaking in Tomales Bay with Point Reyes outdoors. Excellent guide. He explained everything and took good care of us. The kayaks were sit-in and very comfortable and stable. Some wind made it even more fun. We had some families and kids and everybody were doing just fine, even the beginners. I recommend it.

Great day out on Tomales Bay with our guide, Todd. Dress in layers. It is windy out there even if it is hot inland (90 degrees in Novato, CA but chilly on the bay). They provide a windbreaker which was very useful. Your legs will be covered, too, because each kayak has a "skirt" that prevents water from splashing into the kayak.
