About History Alive!

At the Old Town Hall in Salem, the players of the History Alive! acting troupe don the garb of Puritan citizens and slip into the roles of the Salem witch trials' accused and accusers during its signature performance, Cry Innocent. The play depicts the trial of the doomed Bridget Bishop, her supposed victims, and the other villagers, with professional actors staying in character even when communicating with the audience. Through its interactive productions, the company hopes to provide viewers with new insights on not only the 1690's, but the present day. The company's past and future productions include a comedic murder mystery centered around Cpt. Joseph White.

Interesting, but hard to hear the actors the night we went as there was another (loud) event going on downstairs. I commend the actors for really staying in character and rolling with the punches when asked questions by the audience. That was pretty cool.

Loved the experience, starting with the arrest in front of the fountain. The trial was interactive and the actors were engaging. Would recommend to those visiting Salem.

Good show. Helped bring the story of Salem to life. The pace was a little fast though, especially for the kids to follow. Still, they enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. I would recommend going.

Good performance. One drawback - as lovely as the Old Town Hall is, the acoustics make it difficult to hear a great deal of the dialog. Too echoey.

Loved the interaction with cast and spectators. Very well done great history. Voices did not carry well at times with clear understanding. So glad got an opportunity to see play gave betterunderstanding of events taken place in Salem. Thank you

Enjoyed the performance, although at times it was difficult to hear the dialogue. Addition of some quiet fans for hot, steamy days would be helpful to make the performance more comfortable.
