The food was outstanding, especially the pork & clams appetizer. The service was exceptional as well -prompt and attentive without being intrusive.

Was directed to a table and took 15 minutes for a waiter to come over. The oysters, wine and salad were great but both main courses we had were way to salty and the chicken and the halibut were over cooked. Desert was tasty. Think this is a better place for wine and appetizers or drinks and dessert, not impressed with the main courses.

The food was fabulous. Interesting flavors and many fresh local ingredients. The restaurant space is open and modern, and even has a Pop- up kitchen next to it (rotating guest chef). Interesting idea, and again, great food. Everything was great until we got dessert and our waiter got busy elsewhere and did not check on us for almost 30 minutes. We finally flagged someone else downtown ask for our bill, as our waiter headed off to take an order from a large table. We were completely ignored from the moment we got dessert, and had to work early the next morning.

One of Santa Cruz's best restaurants. I have eaten there several times and have never been disappointed with the food or service. The only flaw is that it's very loud in the restaurant...but not a reason to not go and enjoy a nice dinner.

We really enjoyed dining at Assembly. The salad and entrée offerings were creative and really very good. And the Pots de Creme dessert was amazing. We look forward to dining there again, soon.

Excellent food and service but pretty noisy. Lots of street noise, staff being too aggressive with dishes, etc.
