About North Shore Catamaran Charters

Up to 19 passengers sit comfortably on North Shore Catamaran Charters' 40-foot sailing vessel, the Ho’O Nanea, which Captain Don Germain steers along Oahu’s scenic shores. The catamaran’s name means “to pass the time in ease and comfort,” an apt phrase, as guests will find the day quickly and serenely passes when they’re onboard. North Shore can charter the boat for snorkeling adventures in Waimea Bay or for romantic BYOB sunset sails.

Easy, breezy great sail with a friendly crew! Perfect for an intimate group gathering, couples, families. Come out for a sail and see the beauty of our north shore coastline, not the high rises of Waikiki. We have taken this cruise as a couple, and with a dozen of visiting friends. We'll be back!

Great Whale watching trip! Boat and captain were top notch for safety and saw lots of whales including babies while we went on our sunset cruise! I will totally go again with this group the next time I'm on the North Shore!

This was one of my FAVORITE things that we did in Oahu!! I wish that I had time to do it twice! I would highly recommend that everyone to this awesome trip. We saw the turtles close up and spent a lot of time swimming with them in the water. The only thing I would recommend would be to take Dramamine if you get motion sick because I got a little upset to my stomach from being face down in the waves for an hour with the turtles, but SOOOO worth it!!

They allow you to reschedule for free if you don't see any whales on the whale-watch your which makes sense, but is nice to know they honor that.

If you go whale watching, it is in the winter and early spring, make sure the ocean isn't to rough or there is a storm. We went 2x in one week, the 1st was incredible. We saw so many whales-breaching, spy hopping, tail and fin slapping. This was the very best of the many whale watching excursions I have been on. The 2nd time it started to rain as we were leaving the harbor. It started pouring, the ocean was very rough-water coming over the sides from the bottom. Everyone but one guy was huddled under the small middle were there was a little cover. The crew said the did spot one whale but as rough as it was not sure if anyone else saw it. I think everyone would have liked to go back early. We did go in about 20 min early and the crew apologized for the weather and said if there was space you could go later in the week for free, just wasn't sure when they new everyone was miserable they didn't go back sooner.

Catamarans are so much better for a whale watch than a regular boat - stabler and a great view w/o running from side to side. Crew was safety conscious w/o being stuffy. They were knowledgeable about the whales and birds we saw. Water and soda was provided. Bring your bathing suit - you can swim off the boat and they have some snorkel gear available. Best whale watch ever and I've been on dozens.

Check the weather. Watch for days where the waves will not be so big.
