If your child is a bit active and can't sit still for circle time, hold off on joining. They made me feel like the toddlers had to sit even if they did not want to. At this age, children should be able to move about their space without any restrictions, especially during fun activities. My son may end up with a learning disability and I was made to feel like special needs children are not welcome. For example, the teacher had all the students sit in a circle and introduce themselves by saying their name. She never expected to have a student in the group that couldn't say his name. She should have just said let's introduce ourselves. I felt singled out and bad because my son has not mastered his name yet. A couple of times the teacher also made some comments that made me feel like my son was not fitting into the group. In this age of inclusion, I think the facility should be a little more sensitive to the possible diversity of its students. If not, they need to make sure they have a special needs class but I don't think that would be fair to all the kids. Do we really want to start tracking before the kids are 2? Addressing this concern would provide a good professional learning opportunity for all! Thanks for being open and taking my suggestion into consideration.
