Strawberry Fields of Kendall, Miami4.9189 reviewsAbout Strawberry Fields of Kendall
The Burrs family arrived in Florida in 1876, which makes them some of Miami's earlier pioneers. Yet it would be more than 80 years later—in 1960—that the family made perhaps its most historic achievement, when young Charlie Burr planted his first crop of strawberries. He would later earn the nickname "Strawberry King" and Burr's Berry Farm was surely his empire. The farm grew synonymous with the berry over the years, in no small part thanks to Charlie's decision to add strawberry ice cream and milkshakes to the farm's ever-growing farmstand, which still operates today.
Now, strawberry sundaes, chocolate-dipped strawberries, jams, and plenty of other familiar favorites greet visitors as they roll into Burr's Berry Farm. When they're not serving up hot dogs or the weekly special, the friendly staff can point guests to the farm's u-pick garden, one its more modern attractions. There, vertical growing technology allows guests to pick strawberries, herbs, and tomatoes while standing upright—also making the garden wheelchair friendly.
