About Day One

Day One has worked to prevent, intervene in, treat, and address the after-effects of substance abuse in adolescents and young adults for nearly four decades, using in-school services, outpatient therapy, and a residential program. The residential program targets adolescent males who have succumbed to substance abuse. These clients live at the center for eight months to a year and undergo a series of challenges, setting goals to help learn how to make positive choices and healthy decisions. Outpatient services include individual, group, and play therapy for survivors of substance abuse or children affected by substance abuse. These participants use tools such as group discussion and creative writing to cope with the abuse or neglect they may have suffered. The center also engages youth in creating healthy futures through peer programs at local schools, where teens help each other talk through and develop strategies for overcoming substance abuse, eating disorders, or self-harm.
