Nashville National Golf Links showcases an awe-inspiring landscape that arcs over rolling hills, through dense forest, and past limestone bluffs and dramatic waterfalls. Designed by Jim Kirkley Sr. and Mary Mills—the 1963 U.S. Women’s Open champion—the course challenges players of all stripes with harrying rough that lies outside the zoysia-grass fairways and Scottish–style bunkers, recognized for their depth and the tartan patterns drawn into their sand by stranded golfers. Recently, all of the greens were converted to MiniVerde ultra-dwarf bermuda grass, a breed that stays healthy even through droughts, creating a hearty surface that keeps golf balls rolling true year-round.

While navigating this emerald expanse, golfers can captain golf carts equipped with full-color GPS, allowing players to see three-dimensional course maps, keep score electronically, and message the clubhouse their food and drink orders or forewarn fellow golfers with a preemptive “fore” while out on the course.
