Be sure and spend sometime in the barbed wire section of the visitors center. The staff is great answering questions and the tour of the mansion was wonderful.

To experience the mansion fully, you'll need to be able to navigate a few flights of stairs. The tour guide was very friendly and informative, taking care to point out things to my children that they might find interesting.

If you are unable to climb stairs, this tour will not be a good idea for you. There are 3 floors, plus a basement. The basement was the best part, in my opinion. No photos are allowed inside the house at all. Tour guide was fantastic. House is gorgeous. Learned a lot about the family and their lifestyle. Enjoyed the tour very much.Very glad we drove the 45 minutes from Naperville.

As one of the most historic houses in the state of Illinois, I would consider the Ellwood House a must-see. The tour is very informative and for a history buff you cannot get a better deal to immerse yourself into 1890-1940s lifestyle.

I thought this tour of the Ellwood House was one of the best tours that I have been on. I might even go again to see it decorated for Christmas!!!
