About Sculpt Tulsa

The original barre workouts began in 1959, when German ballet dancer Lotte Berk injured her back and required rehab. She decided to combine her ballet barre work with her rehab exercises and, thus, one of the most effective workout programs was born.

Sculpt Tulsa's Marlene Martindale, inspired by her lifetime of marathon running, triathlons, and group exercise instruction, has improved upon the original barre method by incorporating her personal training and rehabilitation experience. Sculpt Barre combines traditional barre exercises with Pilates for targeted, small muscular movements. This works muscles that are often neglected by other exercise programs. Martindale's clients can look forward to toned abs, a lifted butt, stronger ankles, and pinkie fingers that can chop through taut floss. Also available are TRX classes, which use gravity and body weight resistance to increase balance, coordination, and flexibility while strengthening the core muscles.

This was the first time I had done barre and absolutely loved it! The instructor shows you modified moves if you're not as advanced, it was an awesome workout!

Love this place! I've been a spinner and body pump/kickboxing/high intensity workout person, so I wasn't sure I would like this. But it's VERY challenging and fun...and difficult! I really like it. The studio is very clean and the staff is friendly.
