Best place to go driving distance from Chicago.

I've been to Granite Peak three times. I have a blast every single time. We stay at the nearby Rib Mountain Inn and we're able to walk to the mountain. It's perfect. The drive is a little long for those living in the Chicago area, but it's well worth it. There is a good mix of difficulty levels on the mountain. I look forward to going to Granite Peak all year long. If you go early in the season you risk not being able to access the entire mountain (weather plays a factor). I went December 20 and 21 and they only had about half of the mountain open. It might be better to go during January.

Awesome place for snowboarders. Even if there is bad weather, they make awesome snow

Helmet not included in ski rentals, have to rent separately for $12ish dollars

buy a face mask to prevent wind burn. otherwise, it was an amazing weekend.

Great Skiing

Soooo expensive. Bring own food

Did not honor the group on and had to pay additional $200 just to get the same ski package. The people did not know how to process the paper work. Wasted about an hours worth of skiing trying to get it all figured out. too much fine print
