What to Expect
- What began with a group of volunteers has grown into one of Akron’s cultural cornerstones. The Museum rebuilt after a fire in 1941, officially became the Akron Art Museum in 1980, and has continued to evolve ever since. Today, it’s a place to encounter modern and contemporary art, discover new perspectives, and experience what’s happening in art right now.
Discover three centuries of art at the Akron Art Museum, where historic works meet bold, contemporary ideas. Whether you’re attending a special event or a tour, enjoying the lobby for conversation or some relaxing time, or walking enjoying exhibitions and the Museum’s collection, you’ll be glad you made some time for art in the heart of Akron.
