Hundreds of lanterns come to life after dark. Built by artisans from silk cloth stretched over steel wire and lit from within by LEDs, the Autumn Glow Festival turns a park into a walk-through world of glowing creatures, arches, and larger-than-life scenes drawn from Chinese legend, folklore, and the natural world. Some of them move; some shift color as you pass. The trail takes about an hour and a half at an easy pace, winding past live performances, artisan craft stalls, and food and drink from local vendors. Come after sunset for the fullest effect.
