British Horse Society–certified instructor helms riding school that promotes mastery of technique and understanding of horsemanship
About This Deal
For centuries, horseshoes have been associated with good fortune, which is why homeowners hang them over doorways and brides lob them at groups of their single friends. Get hitched with this voucher.
Choose Between Two Options
- $32 for one 60-minute beginner horseback-riding lesson (a $60 value)
- $62.75 for two 60-minute beginner horseback-riding lessons (a $120 value)
The lesson covers new rider safety and basic grooming, then moves onto mounting, dismounting, and controlling the horse while in the saddle. The school loans helmets for free, but riders must wear their own hard-soled shoes with a heel, and the stables recommend that riders wear riding pants or jeans and chaps or half chaps for comfort.

About Clay Hill Stables
Since founding Clay Hill Stables in 1964, British Horse Society–certified instructor Emmie Prettyman has passed her vast equine expertise on to legions of horses and their riders through a variety of services. Emmie captains a team of instructors certified to teach the English style of riding as well as administer first aid and CPR, ensuring safe and sound lessons for students as young as 6. Beginner classes work to establish fundamentals both on and off the saddle, including riding positions and basic grooming and tacking. Once riders have demonstrated proficiency at the paces of walk, trot, and canter, they may be eligible for the jumping work in the intermediate/advanced class, where they build on skills with more intricate flatwork and jumping exercises, as well as have the opportunity for trail rides and horse shows.
