I love escape rooms and escape rooms games. I was under the impression that this was a monthly escape room game subscription, where each month was it's own mystery. It's not. It is a 'spread out' mystery that takes several months to get all of the pieces. I actually didn't like it that much. The production was pretty well done, but the mystery want engaging. This was partially because it was so spread out. I found it frustrating to have to wait for more information, and then try to remember a month ago (or two or three months the ago), what I had already figured out that was applicable to the newest box. It wasn't my favorite. I stuck it out and finished the mystery, but I didn't love it. I think a different service would be a better fit for me.
The first clue was really difficult, which kind of made us discouraged to even continue. We looked online for clues, which did help but it made us feel pressed for time to get the two boxes done before the subscription renewed. Also, it's not possible to cancel the subscription on the mobile website, you need to go on the desktop site to see the cancel button.
Loved this! Got the 2 month subscription which was perfect for the Cat's Eye. I was hesitant turn her the 2 month subscription because another post said the code didn't work for the second month, but I had no problems whatsoever. The puzzles were just the right difficulty to be engaging without getting frustrating. Highly recommend for those who love escape rooms and other puzzles!
I think some people will find this game very enjoyable. I, however, did not. I have purchased other subscription game boxes similar to this one and simply enjoyed and appreciated the types of puzzles the other boxes offered over this one. Whether or not you will like this game will be purely based on preference. I will say that placing the order on the company's website was easy and the quality of the materials in the box were good. My only true complaint pertains to their system for getting clues to solve puzzles. You can only get clues by joining their Facebook page and by asking for clues from other players. First of all, this requires that you have a Facebook account. I understand most people do, but not everyone. Also, you have to request to be added to their page - so if you are trying to get a hint quickly, this won't necessarily be possible. You may need to put the game on hold until you have been accepted to the Facebook group. Just things to keep in mind if you decide to try out this subscription service.
