Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: Sandy Beaches, Golf Courses, and Classic Amusement-Park Rides

Myrtle Beach is the crown jewel of South Carolina’s Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of white-sand beaches along the Atlantic seaboard that draws surfers, fishers, and kayakers. The city was named one of the best vacation spots in the United States for a family by USA Today, in part because of its wooden boardwalk, which stretches for more than a mile. Hop into the SkyWheel Ferris wheel’s gondolas, surrounded by more than a million LED lights, for a panoramic view of the city below.

Less than 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach, the tiny fishing village of Murrells Inlet provides a tranquil contrast to the boardwalk’s hustle and bustle. At Brookgreen Gardens, more than 2,000 sculptures stand amid sprawling floral gardens and massive, moss-covered oak trees that have been around for centuries. Murrells Inlet is also home to the Tom Fazio–designed TPC Myrtle Beach golf course, 1 of nearly 80 courses in the area that helped Myrtle Beach earn its title as the seaside golf capital of the world.

The staff was extremely rude, the lady said she could not find my reservation and took 30 minutes to find it, each of the staff members that came out to help her were ruder than the next. Finally the manager Eva came out and tells me I need to pay 12 for parking after paying 175.00 for one night in an outdated room. I would not recommend this hotel at all I've stayed here many times over many years and it's just getting worse.

The staff was the only nice thing about this hotel. We went for a long weekend for my husband’s bday having never having been to the area, and didn’t expect it to be a 5 star resort, but we also didn’t expect our room to reek of cigarettes and feel dirty. The building is old and in desperate need of a redo and the pools are closed. Also, not only was the construction loud but the worker got in a loud shouting match that disturbed the whole beach. Speaking of the beach, there is a sign to not go in the water because of bacteria so it was just an all around bad stay.
