This recently renovated 4-star 1920s hotel has modern decor and original artwork; steps from Broadway theaters in Times Square

Hotel at a Glance: Paramount Hotel

A walk through the Paramount is a walk through New York history. The 4-star hotel opened in the 1920s, not long after Times Square became electrified. And in 1986, the founders of Studio 54 purchased and modernized it. Today, it’s the official hotel of the Tony Awards, and its proximity to Broadway has made it a favorite spot for stars such as Daniel Radcliffe and Liza Minelli.

  • High-rise luxury: All rooms boast the same clean lines and bold colors, flat-screen HD TVs, and high-speed Internet connection.
  • Catch a show: Rodgers Theater—the home of Hamilton—is across the street, and the Marquis and Lunt-Fontanne are on the same block.
  • Explore Midtown: You can walk to Central Park, Rockefeller Plaza, and MoMA in about 15 minutes from the Paramount.
  • Start and end your day at the Paramount Cafe which offers continental breakfast items in the morning and bar service in the evening.
  • Sony Hall: There is a new concert hall venue located adjacent to the Paramount Hotel Times Square.

Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year’s Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night, Claude Monet’s Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum’s outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

Friendly staff. I did have an issue getting breakfast in the morning because the employee at the breakfast bar told me I wasn’t on her “list”. What she failed to tell me was I wasn’t on the list for free breakfast but I can still pay for food. When I walked to the front desk to ask about breakfast, they made it right by giving all guests in my party free breakfast vouchers. Rooms clean & comfy.

Great location, very nice lobby and friendly staff members. The room was clean and had a nice view. The fan in the room was great for white-noise and the double curtains blocked all the city light!
