Italian Highlights by Train: 8-Day Trip

Day 1 Depart the U.S. ✈ — Board your overnight flight to Venice (VCE).
Day 2 Welcome to Venice! — Arrive in Venice and make your way to the Leonardo Royal Hotel Venice Mestre, or similar. Celebrate your first night in Italy with an iconic dessert with roots in the Veneto region: tiramisu!
Day 3 Venice — No trip to Venice is complete without a gondola ride! Later, walk over the iconic Rialto Bridge across the Grand Canal, completed in 1591 to connect the San Polo and San Marco districts.
Day 4 Venice – Florence 🚆 — Board your included train (tourist class) from Mestre to Florence. Check in to PopArtment, or similar, and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure — perhaps with a local specialty like bistecca alla fiorentina (Florentine steak).
Day 5 Florence — Explore the splendors of Florence! Be sure to stop by the Uffizi Gallery, the Florence Cathedral, and of course the Ponte Vecchio.
Day 6 Florence – Rome 🚆 — Travel by train (tourist class) from Florence to Rome and check in to Hotel Pineta Palace, or similar. Get acquainted with the city, then celebrate your first night in the Eternal City with a pizza done the Roman way!
Day 7 Rome — Explore the highlights of Rome: the Colosseum, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. Time willing, visit Vatican City and St. Peter’s Basilica, home to works by Bernini and Michelangelo.
Day 8 Depart Italy ✈ — Your Italian holiday comes to an end. Make your way to Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) for your flight home.
