Very disappointed with my experience.
I purchased the most expensive package that included x-rays, teeth cleaning and teeth whitening. X-rays and teeth cleaning was fine (they upsell you for other services) and I was told I needed to make a second appointment for the teeth whitening for a different day. I've been told teeth whitening can be painful so I opted not to google anything so I wouldn't scare myself.
The person that did my teeth whitening for the most part explained everything I needed to know, but he definitely downplayed the experience and left some major things out. He didn't mention that the solution would burn off my gums, leaving me inflamed and in pain. Instead, he said my gums would turn white, but by the time I made it to the front desk, the color would be back to normal.
After some research, burning of the gums is a factor of a few things: the solution was too strong, left on too long and there was no protection placed on the gums before the procedure and/or the tray didn't fit correctly. Basically, the procedure was similar to an at home kit. There was nothing professional about it. The tray was standard and too large for my mouth and my gums had no protection. The solution leaked from the tray and burned the front and right side of my gums and puddled under my tongue also leaving it burned and swollen. I couldn't talk normally on the first day.
As I've read, this is a common side effect of teeth whitening but I wish he would have explained this to me in further detail so that when I came home and saw my gums damaged, I would have been more mentally prepared.
The worst part is that I leave for my anniversary trip tomorrow and I still can't eat anything because it stings too much and my gums are peeling. Do yourself a favor and find a professional establishment who puts more care into your procedure or skip the Groupon and buy an at-home kit and burn your own gums!
The absolutely worse experience of my life?! I wasn’t able to get any of the dental treatment that I paid for and the fact that they made it seem like my teeth were so bad, just doesn’t sit well with me??? The receptionist was very rude and violated my HIPAA rights by discussing why I couldn’t get the teeth whitening treatment in front of another patient and I don’t appreciate that either?!!
I don’t know why there were any negative reviews. The facility is spacious, clean, and the staff are very competent, friendly, and caring.
They also use the latest tools. My favorite was the suction because it is so much quicker and easier to get all the liquids out so you’re not choking.
Highly highly recommend!
