About IM=X Pilates & Fitness

Although you don't pronounce the equals sign, it's appropriate that IM=X (Integrated Movement eXercise) resembles a scientific equation: it applies modern research in exercise to the time-tested discipline of Pilates, and adds cardio, strength-training and other physical discipline to the equation as well. Since its conception in the late 1990s, this fitness method has drawn the attention of media outlets such as Shape, Self, and the New York Times. The program’s concept stemmed from founder Elyse McNergney’s Pilates certifications, her Master's degree in Movement Science from NYU, and Master's of Education degree in Exercise Physiology from Columbia University. The method teaches clients how to utilize the core while elongating and stabilizing the spine to keep it safe during workouts and everyday life. The outcome is a decompressed spine, better posture, improved flexibility, weight loss, muscle strength and endurance, toned arms, back and legs, and - of course - a solid core. The program has also been used to train and rehabilitate professional athletes, dancers, and patients suffering from chronic pain.
