Your carotid arteries are major blood vessels located on each side of your neck that supply blood to the brain. Over time, plaque can build up within these arteries and potentially cause narrowing that affects normal blood flow.

A carotid ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the arteries and evaluate how blood is moving through them. The examination is noninvasive, does not use radiation, and requires no needles.

Our focus is on providing a thorough evaluation of the carotid arteries rather than simply performing a limited screening check. The ultrasound professional obtains multiple images and blood-flow measurements to provide a more detailed look at the carotid arteries.

What We Offer

Comprehensive Carotid Ultrasound

Participants receive an ultrasound evaluation of the carotid arteries that will include:

• Imaging of the carotid artery anatomy

• Evaluation for visible plaque

• Assessment of areas that may demonstrate narrowing

• Doppler evaluation of blood flow

• Blood-flow velocity measurements

• Multiple views of the carotid arteries on both sides of the neck

Our goal is to provide a more complete evaluation of the carotid arteries than you would typically receive with a brief wellness screening.

Educational Preventive Health Consultation

Your introductory visit also includes time with a Patient Advocate who will:

• Explain additional early-detection screening options available at our center

• Provide information about other preventive health services

• Answer general questions about the screenings we offer

• Help you understand which services may be worth discussing further based on your interests and health goals
