About Old Angler's Inn
The Old Angler's Inn is steeped in American history, and not just because it was founded in 1860. It's location to the Potomac River may also have something to do with it. After all, John Smith camped just downstream, George Washington designed the locks on the canal, and civil war couriers slept here. When 21st-century visitors set foot on the eatery's premises, however, it still feels thoroughly of the present, thanks to the heated beer garden, outfitted with flat screen TVs. The inn weathered Prohibition, and celebrates that history with classic cocktails as well as creative concoctions like the "Smokey Pineapple," a blend of mescal and pineapple juice.
The dining room maintains the warm atmosphere of the inn, complete with fireplace. In the kitchen, chefs custom-grill cuts of filet mignon and Tomahawk pork chops before adorning them with optional extras like foie gras and crab. They then drizzle each steak in a choice of Bordelaise or Béarnaise sauce. The Inn also offers up a rack of lamb adorned with a rosemary garlic herb crust, served with a side of whipped potatoes.
