Why You'll Love It
Multi-Concern Treatment in One Session: IPL photofacials use broad-spectrum light to target both pigment (sun damage, brown spots, freckles) and vascular concerns (redness, broken capillaries, rosacea-driven flushing) simultaneously — in a single treatment.
Minimal Downtime: Most patients return to normal activities the same day. Treated brown spots often darken briefly before flaking away over 1–2 weeks (the "coffee grounds" effect). Redness typically settles within hours.
LegitScript-Verified Florida Medical Aesthetics Group: Refresh - Aesthetics & Wellness has served 25,000+ patients across Florida, with personalized consultations and customized treatment plans for every visit.
Easy to gift: Perfect for a partner, parent, or friend looking to brighten sun damage or even out skin tone.

Prep & Aftercare
Before:
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners for 2 weeks before your session. Avoid retinol, AHAs, BHAs, and other active skincare ingredients for 48–72 hours prior. Disclose any photosensitizing medications (including certain antibiotics, antihistamines, and acne medications) at your consultation.
After:
Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and reapply often — sun exposure after treatment can cause new pigmentation. Skip heavy exercise, hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms for 24–48 hours. Brown spots may darken briefly ("coffee grounds" appearance) before flaking away naturally over 1–2 weeks — this is the expected result; don't pick at them.

How It Works
FAQs
What does an IPL photofacial do?
IPL uses broad-spectrum light to target multiple skin concerns in one session — pigment (sun damage, brown spots, freckles), vascular concerns (redness, broken capillaries, rosacea-driven flushing), and overall tone and clarity.
When will I see results?
Brown spots often visibly darken within a few hours after treatment, then flake away over 1–2 weeks revealing brighter underlying skin. Redness reduction is often visible after the first session. Texture and overall clarity improvements continue to develop for several weeks after the final session.
How many sessions will I need?
3 sessions completes the lower end of the standard recommended range (see Treatment Zones above for cadence). Your provider confirms whether additional sessions are recommended at consultation, and can suggest a maintenance cadence based on your skin and goals.
Does it hurt?
Most patients describe the sensation as a quick rubber-band snap with each pulse. Your provider preps your skin before treatment. Most patients tolerate sessions well; numbing is typically not required but is available on request.
Is IPL safe for my skin tone?
IPL generally works best for lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–IV) because the broad-spectrum light targets melanin in pigmented spots. For darker skin tones (V–VI), there's increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation — your provider reviews your skin type at consultation and confirms whether you're a candidate. If you're not, Refresh - Aesthetics & Wellness's standard consultation refund policy will apply.
What's the downtime?
Most patients return to normal activities the same day. Mild redness or warmth typically settles within hours. Brown spots may darken briefly before flaking away over 1–2 weeks — this is the expected response, not a side effect. Avoid sun exposure and apply SPF 30+ daily for at least 2 weeks after each session.
