About Richland Rum
Each time the team at Richland Rum opens a new barrel of rum, it's like they've crossed the finish line of a long marathon. It's hard to put an exact number on the amount of time and effort that goes into each hand-crafted bottle. Is it 50 - 70, the number of months the rum ages? Or is it 15, the number of years the distillers have taken to hone their proprietary fermentation recipe? You could easily spend hours delving into the process (or take a personalized distillery tour), but here's the basic rundown of how Richland Rum takes pure, unrefined sugarcane (not molasses) and transforms it into award-winning rum:
Richland Rum has only two ingredients: home grown sugar cane and natural spring water from the Georgia Aquifer. Sugar Cane is grown at the proprietor's estate RICHLAND ESTATE. The sugar cane is harvested and condensed into pure unrefined sugar cane syrup. Richland Rum is the only continuous Single Estate Rum Made in the USA.
The sugar cane syrup then travels to the distillery, housed in a historic downtown building. Here, the distiller uses two copper pot stills to make small batches of rum by hand. Finally, the rum ages in virgin American White oak barrels, maturing for up to 40 to 70 months before eligible for bottling.
The Finished Product
A lot of terms can describe Richland Rum's rum. Single estate. Unblended. Naturally gluten-free. In the end, this "field-to-glass" approach creates a rum that's best served neat or on the rocks to ensure each slow sip carries flavors ranging from sugar cane and field flowers to dark chocolate, figs, and oak. no preservatives, no additives.
