What once was an abandoned building in San Diego's Chinatown now is a state-of-the-art multi-site museum that plays a crucial role in the local cultural life. Established in 1996, San Diego Chinese Historical Museum is on a mission to promote and preserve the Chinese art and culture as well as the contribution of Chinese Americans. Each year, the institution hosts educational programs and walking tours that uncover the multicultural history of San Diego’s Asian Pacific Historic District. The museum also strives to bring the diverse community together by celebrating holidays like Chinese New Year and mid-autumn Moon Festival.
