About Shmidt Spirits
"Distinctively Finished." These two words have been at the foundation of Shmidt Spirits since the beginning. Since its conception, Shmidt Spirits has been devoted to understanding the science and the art that separates a good liquor. Arthur Shmidt, the founder of the distillery, has always had a passion for pursuing anything that mixed his love of engineering with his affection and appreciation of fine liquors. After years of research, he decided to open up his distillery in close proximity to College Park to bring something truly unique to the area. The distillery was founded in 2020 by Arthur Shmidt. Since then, Arthur and Master Distiller, Brian Roan, have worked tirelessly to research, test and create the flavor combinations that are unique to Shmidt Spirits. Currently, they are producing 3 premier spirits:
Viridian- Gin: Infused with real orange and lavender, this gin is a delicately flavored curiosity that doesn’t overpower and doesn’t out-stay its welcome. Perfect to sip chilled on a summer day and light enough to mix into all your favorite gin drinks, this gin’s flavor is only outshone by its versatility. Finishing in a rye cask gives a final note of spicy sweetness that underlines the citrus and floral notes waiting to entice you.
Silver- Young Whiskey: It’s a whiskey spirit unlike any you’ve ever seen before.
Our two-thirds rye one-third wheat mash is aged four days in a charred oak barrel, mellowing the rye notes just a hint to allow for a smoother, easier drink. We then finish it in a chardonnay cask for three days, imparting a white whine patina that complements the subtle, distinctive flavor. A crisp chardonnay nose and buttery chardonnay finish bookend the gentle rye body of this spirit, making it a beguiling and gentle drink straight, on the rocks, or mixed.Cobalt- Rye Whiskey: Two parts rye and one part wheat ensures that this spirit has the desired spice and bite of rye with the mellowing sweetness of wheat to make sure the whole thing goes down smooth. Not only that, but finishing in a rum cask adds a layer of sugary deliciousness that means not only will it go down easy, but you’ll want to return to it again and again.
