About The Life Confidant
The Life Confidant was founded by a mother who raised a child that was diagnosed with mood disorder at the age of six. The child would go on to be diagnosed as an adult with bi polar disorder and require significant mental health support for their entire childhood. At the age of eight the child was on lockdown in a Littleton, CO school while shots were being fired in a nearby high school, that school was Columbine. The mother of this young child would later read that one of these children was believed to be suffering from bi polar disorder. This event was profound to the mother of this child and she was dedicated and focused on the mental health, behavioral research and cognitive therapy available to prevent this outcome for her child or community. She has over 25 years of combined supportive work with mental health professionals from Children's Medical Center in Denver, Yale New Haven Pediatric Psychiatric, Saint Raphael's Pediatric Psychiatric, Yale New Haven Psychiatric, Connecticut Pediatric Neuropsychology and individual practitioners that dedicated their services to her family. She now dedicates what was giving to her and her family back to others in the form of peer support.
