About Zen Dentistry

Dr. Arsh Ahuja has dentistry in his blood. As a boy, he spent most of his time in his father’s dental practice in Los Angeles, already enamored with his future career. His main takeaway from this early exposure, and from his subsequent dental training in San Francisco, is that, when it’s time to see the dentist, patients are most concerned with one thing: comfort.

As a result of Dr. Ahuja’s early revelations, virtually every aspect of Zen Dentistry is designed to keep patients calm and content. In the reception area, postmodern triangular windows reveal a bustling view of Manhattan, which patients can admire while sipping from a selection of teas that, like expired prank chewing gum, won’t stain teeth. In treatment rooms, patients can zone out inside sets of DVD goggles that simulate 80-inch projector screens while playing their choice of movies or TV shows. Other senses get in on the act, too: hot towels from a Towel Spa warmer pile on faces or necks and soothing scents court olfactory glands.
