A family vacation to an Orlando theme park isn’t usually synonymous with romance. With a few tweaks to your itinerary, though, you can briefly transform your trip with the kids into a couples getaway brimming with romantic possibilities. And we’re not just talking about sitting next to each other on a ride or sharing cotton candy when the kids aren’t looking. There’s more to the parks—and Orlando in general—than roller coasters and sugar, especially if you’re in the mood for love.
First, Ditch the Kiddos
Both major parks offer adult-supervised activity centers where kids can play while parents enjoy a few hours off. Expect to pay a fee, but once you’re free, you can rekindle that spark with these suggestions.
Hit the Park (Adult Style)
Walt Disney World® Theme Parks: Paddle across Magic Kingdom® Park’s Seven Seas Lagoon in a double kayak and then head to Disney's Polynesian Resort to watch the nightly fireworks from a shared hammock.
Universal Orlando Resort: Stroll through Camp Jurassic at Islands of Adventure, which sets a romantic mood with lush tropical shrubbery and the gentle cooing of extinct man-eating monsters.
Greater Orlando: Ditch the theme park for an actual park. At Lake Eola Park, you can cozy up inside a swan boat for two.
Have a Romantic Dinner
Walt Disney World® Theme Parks: Slurp the same strand of spaghetti à la Lady and the Tramp at Tony's Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom® Park.
Universal Orlando Resort: Set your hearts aflutter sharing a milkshake at the 50s-style Mel’s Drive-In inside Universal Studios Florida or clinking champagne flutes over filet mignon at Emeril’s Restaurant Orlando in Universal CityWalk.
Greater Orlando: With nearly 200 Zagat-rated restaurants, Orlando is no slouch when it comes to fine dining. Feed each other sushi at Naru Sushi Bar, or go full-on lovey-dovey with fondue at The Melting Pot.

Walt Disney World® Theme Parks: For spectacle, nothing beats Cirque du Soleil at the Disney Springs Area. But if surreal French acrobatics aren’t your cup of aphrodisiac, head to Disney’s BoardWalk Entertainment District to catch dueling pianos at Jellyrolls.
Universal Orlando Resort: At Universal CityWalk, you can jam out to live reggae and watch the Blue Man Group use toilet paper in incredible new ways.
Greater Orlando: Hear jazz from a live pianist at Bösendorfer Lounge, as you sip upscale cocktails and gaze longingly into each other’s eyes.
Get a Little Crazy
Walt Disney World® Theme Parks: Cut a rug at Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney's Boardwalk Resort, or sample international wines at Epcot®.
Universal Orlando Resort: You can sing a karaoke duet with a live band at Rising Star and put your matching shakers of salt to good use at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville in Universal CityWalk.
Greater Orlando: Soar across the Florida skies together via Orlando Balloon Rides.
