About Turquoise Museum

The Turquoise Museum tells the story of the turquoise mineral with a collection that features specimens harvested from more than 80 mines. The mesmerizing blue-green rocks alone would be worth a visit, but they accompany exhibits that delve into mining, jewelry, and the historical figures who first sought out turquoise and transformed it into a commodity. Unmissable highlights include the 6,880-carat, 115-square-inch George Washington stone, which bears a striking resemblance to America's first President, and other gemstones embedded in famous pieces of jewelry.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and professional yet he kept the tour talk light and interesting. He also saved us a lot of money by explaining the nature of the turquoise business.

Very interesting. Activities for my two grandkids. (A little long for my ages, but kids 12 & up would last better). Beautiful collection, and amazingly well informed guide. Going back (without the babies)!
