The Children’s Discovery museum doesn’t look like much from the outside, however inside there are an abundance of free play options. The smallish intimate environment fosters creativity and interaction between the kids. Unlike many children’s museums where parents escort their kids from exhibit to exhibit this place is like walking into one giant play room. Parents can relax and let the kids take charge of their own experience. The facility is packed with creative play things from old telephones to giant eggs. One charming aspect of the place is the clever reuse of every day items. In place of items purchased from catalogues there are retired cash registers, a front loader, a giant box of LEGO, and a clever reuse of parts from a school bus. I wasn’t sold walking through the door but after two hours of my child being fully engaged without my oversight or guidance in the best uncontrived playroom ever we will visit again, and will bring snacks next time.

Fun for toddlers on up - our 2 year old's favorites are the sensory table (full of beans or rice), the train display and the slide made of a big pipe.
