About The Maize

Six miles of trails wind through more than 20 acres of towering cornstalks at The Maize. As participants search for their way back to civilization, they'll occasionally stumble on one of 14 challenge stations that will prompt them with questions. If they answer correctly, the station can help participants find the correct route.

The horticultural brainchild of Bowling Green Christian Academy, The Maize uses its proceeds to benefit both school programs and the Help Light the Night charity, which strives to provide jobs and renewable-light sources to impoverished families in India. In keeping with the theme of lighting the night, The Maize holds campfires on Saturday nights.

Glad to find out about the activity and the sponsoring school. We will be back next year (and this time we will complete it. We appreciated the popcorn, even though we didn't quite make it through. Loved the Narnia theme--it provoked good conversation with my son.

At first we were a little skeptical about being given a map, but the maze got progressively more challenging as we got further into it, and the map ended up being really helpful. Without the map, we probably would have missed several of the stations and gotten really lost. The corn stalks were also pretty tall; there were only a couple of places where they were short enough for us grown adults to see over, and in those places it wasn't possible to see the rest of the maze, so nothing was ruined for us. All in all, a great, family-friendly or couples-friendly (we don't have kids and we still had a blast!) activity.

Was an exceptional effort for a first year... loved the theme aspect of it. One suggestion - each station needs to have the map with all the stations listed... if one got lost and did not do the stations in order - it became almost impossible to find a way out. Also - for those that might be LOST in the maize - workers need to take seriously the effort to help people find their way out. I had two boys wondering the maize for two hours and their approach to workers just resulted in being told that the worker didn't know the way out and was trying to find it themselves.
