About Ortygia

Drawing from formative family dinners spent around a table full of Sicilian food, Head Chef Gaetano Cannata crafts a menu of what he calls Monzu cuisine at Ortygia. This Sicilian-French fusion style of cooking, which also pulls from Arab, Greek, Spanish and North-African influences, dates back to Napoleon's time. Inside the quaint and cottage-like Ortygia, it manifests into a menu of ricotta-filled tarts, sumptuous imported pastas, and cotoletta di pollo, a traditional Sicilian comfort food made from sautéing boneless chicken breast dusted in bread crumbs, sesame seeds, and Parmiggiano. Each offering comes with a suggested wine pairing, ensuring both drink and food bring out each other's best sides.

Overall a fantastic experience. The personal interaction and harmonica playing from the owner was the cherry on the cake. Recommend whole heartedly.

Went with my friend and we had a great experience from the Owner/Chef coming and sitting down with us and telling us about what he was cooking that evening as well as the waitress who was one of the best. Our dinners were fabulous as well as the dining experience!

The place was very busy and it took 2 1/2 hours for four of us to have dinner. Server didn't take our dinner order for almost one hour. The food was tasty but did not contain some of the ingredients listed on the menu. I will try again off season.
