people at colonial plantation are amazing, very friendly and explained well, treated kids well and it was fun. they let kids explaore, touch and work on things which regulary doesnt happen if its full busy.
A great way to spend a few hours, learned a lot
We had a really memorable time. Our tour guide was excellent; he did a thorough job explaining and showing us what life was like in the 18th century. We loved the interactive components of the day (such as carving wood, petting the horses and cows, and carrying a yoke with water).
The colonial actors were awesome; very informative and friendly. We were welcomed right into their colonial life and learned a lot. The grounds are lovely. It was a wonderful afternoon trip into the past.
Great experience. Nice surprise. Highly recommend.
We had a nice time. I've been wanting to go for years and am glad I finally did. I liked their "this is really old but go ahead and touch it policy." It was a really interesting place and the guides were terrific.
We had a fantastic time! It was so interesting - and the guides were so personable, informative, captivating, and passionate about imparting their knowledge. We learned a lot - and the tour is appropriate for kids and people of all ages! We highly, highly recommend a visit (or two!)
Nice, relaxing afternoon on a farm.
easy relaxing day with kids, extremely kind and knowledgeable staff/volunteers
I would recommend The Colonial Plantation to anyone who loves history and/or animals and/or nature , because the place is loaded with all three. Plus charm. Lots of charm. It's a working replication of a late 18th century farm plunked right in the middle of Ridley Creek Park. Folks there are dressed in period clothes, work the farm without electricity, and there is even a blacksmith there crafting iron. Want to know how we got phrases like "Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite"? Make the trip and find out. And after you're done, there are lots of great trails to hike in the Park, free of charge, plus facilities for picnicking.
