Gary Majchrzak has traveled the world in search of meaning and spiritual awakening, but his journey began in the unlikeliest of places. In the musty confines of a public library in Buffalo, Majchrzak was first introduced to hatha yoga in a book that illustrated the style's distinctive poses and practices. That book planted a seed that would grow for 25 years, until he took a trip to Europe and a sequence of remarkable events found him trekking through the Himalayas in Nepal.
Fast-forward another couple of decades. Majchrzak is now a full-fledged yogi who runs workshops and classes in kundalini yoga, a style he learned in Seattle from Yogi Vikashananda and practiced during pilgrimages to Nepal. A step above hatha, this unique style of yoga is all about advancing one's consciousness through breathing and focused mantras. Perhaps it's his nomadic nature that has led Majchrzak to start his mobile business, Have Mat Will Travel. He leads his workshops at places around town, such as the Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo.
