About Astronomer Mark

Although its name does hint at the long, sharp-scented ranks of Christmas trees, Mark's Tree Farm acts as a gateway to many more of nature's marvels. In tribute to the powers of Mother Earth, Mark grows the trees without the use of any chemicals. The expert stargazer also invites groups to follow his laser pointer and the aim of his telescope during astronomy tours on the farm's enclosed viewing space.

Among the whispering leaves, the sharp tang of evergreen boughs mixes with the aromas of hickory and apple wood in the cooling air. Mark lubricates all of his cutting tools, which slice chips and chunks for smoking meats with canola oil, rather than petroleum-based lubricants that can carry carcinogens. He also packages firewood in custom lengths to fit in different stoves and underwhelming time capsules.

This was great! Informative, beautiful, a nice boat trip but COLD. Bring a blanket, warm clothes & hat.i am always warm, but just wore jeans, long sleeve t shirt & hoodie and was freezing. Well worth it though since I can now name about half a dozen constellations. Saw 2 shooting stars and sort of saw the Milky Way. The moon was not helping, so would like to try it again when it's not so big.

We tried over the past two years to see this, but were rescheduled multiple times due to the weather, but it was worth the wait! We had a great time out of the Plymouth cruise, and the best way to describe it was magical! Thanks Mark for creating such an awesome way to see the stars from New England!

My son and I had a great time! It was both fun and educational. Nice informal atmosphere and Mark was able to answer everyone's questions. He is both knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. We plan to go back during every season as the sky changes!
