Camp Kilarunna, Fannettsburg
Camp Kilarunna, FannettsburgAbout Camp Kilarunna
If Camp Kilarunna were a traditional summer camp, parents would be terrified by its selling points: cabins with only a smattering bloodstains on the walls, and verdant grounds that have been murder-free since 1984. Luckily, the camp isn't for youngsters. It's for adult runners with a taste for the spooky. They flock to the premises for overnight weekend adventures that feature a 5k race, held Saturday at sundown. At the finish line, they celebrate their survival with a bonfire, barbecue, and after-party. Once the revelry dies down, it's time for the most challenging part: sleeping through the night on campgrounds home to escaped convicts, a minor bat problem, and scariest of all, myriad sweaty running shoes.
