About The Point

Toeing the line between corner bar and gourmet grill, The Point serves old-fashioned comfort food alongside vegan and gluten-free fare. The eclectic menu matches the decor, which effortlessly blends exposed brick and timeworn racing photos with sleek chrome light fixtures and sentient bar stools. Diners can plumb new depths with intriguing menu items such as the crab cake with caper remoulade, the vegan mushroom broth risotto, and the tilapia ceviche with orange and lime. Or they can rely on old standards such as the Point burger with cheddar and bacon or the chicken wings, which come in chipotle barbecue or gorgonzola-bacon. It's not all rib-sticking entrees, either. In her glowing review, the Chicago Reader's Julia Thiel praised the lineup of libations as well, saying, "The drinks menu is just as impressive as the food, offering a dozen beers on tap... another 20-odd in bottles and cans, plus a dozen wines by the glass, the same number of cocktails, and a good selection of spirits, particularly whiskey and tequila."

This place is nothing short of surprising. It's delicious food, great beer and cocktail menu and a wonderful staff. We went for brunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon and had a great time on their patio. It's a little off the beaten path, but it's well worth the trip.

I'm sure it had to do with the fact that it was the first "patio weather day", but these guys were so terribly understaffed. One server, one bus boy, and one bartender were outmatched and didn't stand a chance. If they were staffed appropriately, The Point would be a great spot to have a beer on the patio.

Above average bar food and a nice selection of craft beer. Great friendly service the time I visited! Only downside is the 12oz size draft glasses which still cost a not entirely appealing $6. I'd visit more regularly if beer qty/price was more competitive with other places in my West Loop neighborhood (e.g. Jaks Tap, Haymarket, Hakney's).

The Point should include 2 more beers instead of a starter. If you have to get a starter, I would recommend the salad. Too much food otherwise and too many French Fries with both.
