Designed by famed course architect William Bell in 1933, the Lakewood Country Club has been testing the mettle of golfers for nearly eight decades. Today, players still roam the championship-caliber course, sending balls flying toward 18 holes spread across 7,033 yards of well-manicured grass. Along the way, they encounter several challenges, including precision par 3s and newly installed (but still treacherous) bunkers. All of this helped earn Lakewood the reputation as one of the finest courses in southern Los Angeles, an honor reflected by the course's numerous appearances on LA County's Course of the Year lists.

Gene is an awesome instructor! He was incredibly patient and explained the concepts thoroughly. As an educator, I appreciate the good instruction and the simplicity of his explanations. A good coach knows how to take difficult ideas and explain them simply, so the student really internalizes the knowledge.

Good beginner instructions. I've been playing ten years and just learned the fundamentals! Gene is patient and knowledge and relates the game to things you already know.

Gene is patient, knowledgeable, and really understands the struggles that new golfers go through. Even though this was a group training, the amount of time he took to focus on individuals was great!
I was having a hard with slicing the ball consistently, and after just 2 sessions with gene, i was able to correct it! If I do slice the ball now, I have the knowledge to make adjustments and get a better shot. I recently played 18 holes while on vacation and was able to enjoy my ball flying into the majestic desert backdrop.

I very much appreciate Gene’s experience and obvious love for teaching. He is patient, encouraging, and goes out of his way to make sure his students learn to hold their own. I also appreciate the sprinkles of golf etiquette in each lesson.
