Q&A with Kathy Jurichko, Entertainment Coordinator and Social Media Marketing

As the old adage says, "Stuff happens." What training do you and your staff have to stay ahead of the unexpected?

This is a two day festival. This is our 6th year. We have a large amount of competent and experienced volunteers divided into categories of their expertise: food prep, entertainment, games, ticket sales/accounting, facility and grounds, etc. We have indoor space available in the event of too much rain or cold.

What is the one feature of your business that you're most proud of?

Don't make us choose just one. We are proud of our ethnic food offerings: perohi (which is stuffed pasta dumplings with potato/cheese filling) and holubki (which is a cabbage roll). These are made by experienced volunteers in our church kitchen. We are also proud of our entertainment offerings. We have one indoor stage that is coffee-shop style with individual performers. And we have an outdoor stage that will present Russian folk music, community choir, ethnic dancers and rock n roll street dance. We are also proud of our cathedral choir and they will sing a concert in our cathedral, which will be open all day for tours.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

We are excited to welcome guests from our community to enjoy a day of food, entertainment, and fun.

I did the Taste Of NE last year, and enjoyed it. This year was better because it was cooler! Informative QA session in the church. Excellent food. Good live music. Fun time!

It was really cute --- Church was beautiful. Nice to see that they were rising money to help the needy. Loved the cabbage roll.
