both my wife a myself were enjoyed our first session. There are no guys in the room, feeling awkward, hence, i pass the coupon down to my daughter, she may enjoys more. Studio is clean and comfy.
I would not recommend Tapas Yoga (to beginners, in particular) because the instructor does not keep well enough in mind the level that she is teaching. I am in her beginner course and she consistently assumes a prior knowledge of various poses which she, herself, has not introduced to us. For someone who, like me, has taken a yoga class before, this isn't a big issue; however, I can see that there are a number of people struggling because of this. Furthermore, when she does teach new poses, she does not give proper instruction to ensure that her students are doing the poses correctly nor does she demonstrate slow enough for the class to properly understand: she counts steps, but does not explain what the steps are, she expects that once through a series of poses is enough for the group to "get it", she asks us to do the pose(s) with her and simultaneously watch her - not possible when doing downward facing dog! Additionally, there is no continuity with what she teaches; before moving on to something new, we should have ample practice with the previous pose(s). The speed she is moving at, to me, indicates either boredom with poses that she is clearly beyond in her own practice or that she is not keeping track of what she has taught in one beginner class versus another; while I recognize that she teaches multiple classes during the week, and thus must be bored, since we're not all at those classes, she must keep a steady, gradual pace for her students - I would recommend that she keep a "lesson plan" to follow each week to keep track of what she has taught in the various courses. I would further suggest that she to use a more motivating and encouraging tone when she does give feedback to students who are not doing the poses correctly (I've only seen her doing it once in the three classes I have attended and the tone she used seemed condescending to that individual). Finally, the floor in her studio (which is her basement) is carpeted and that makes balancing poses more difficult than they should be. I expected to be going to a legitimate yoga studio and found her website to be misleading; being upfront about this and having photos of the studio would be helpful to potential customers. For the reasons expressed above, I would not recommend Tapas Yoga.
