My cousin and I thoroughly enjoyed the museum. It's very small, but you can easily see everything thing they have and you can participate in the docent led tour.
You need to have a great since of adventure to enjoy this little gem.
So great! The tour guide was really engaging! It was so interesting!
The museum itself is normally free admission, but the tours are $20 a person. The whole experience is great, primarily due to the guides! Otherwise, the avg person would have a hard time putting together the info pasted on the walls.
I wasn't sure what to expect but absolutely loved my experience! The tour was incredible.
I'll say this, when I first walked in, I was a bit skeptical. We were late to the tour by a couple of minutes so I was happy when we were included. You can't do this Museum without the tour, in my opinion. When I walked in, I saw that it was only two rooms with lots of pictures on the wall. The pictures weren't even that professional looking. Although there were some other items behind glass, I was concerned for the first few minutes that I had made a mistake. I also remember questioning why the Museum was set up this way, as there was so much potential.
Halfway through, I was enthralled. The stories come to life, all because of our wonderful tour guide. You could tell that there was so much more that could be discussed. She took the pictures and the few pieces and made a memorable experience. The last 20 minutes are so was the best part, as we learned the backstory of the building and the relevance to the Museum. I highly recommend this! Make sure you get there for the tour.
The guide is very knowledgeable and cool.
Good time, the tour guide was very informative
Long tour (~2 hours) but very interesting! Mimi shared a wealth of knowledge about gang history in NY and beyond. The location really a piece of history! So glad as a New Yorker to have learned about it. Thank you!
Very informative and interesting! Plus they have a prohibition bar so you can get historic drinks. Pretty cool overall!
Best time, manager knows her gangster history
It went very well and it was so informative I learned a lot and also enjoyed seeing the exhibits on the tour.
