About Stage Hill Polo

As the head of Stage Hill Polo, owner and instructor Peter Poor—who has been featured in the Boston Globe—draws on more than 50 years of polo experience to teach the game to students of all skill levels. After guiding students to their provided horses and mallets, Poor teaches his students all about polo strategies and the game's terms and phrases, such as "chukkers," "bumps," and "that's not a football." He holds lessons in a small paddock so that riders can learn the sport in a low-intensity atmosphere. Poor welcomes all skill levels and oversees friendly scrimmages during which students can put their newly acquired skills to the test.

We had a great experience. For $39.50 this was well worth the exposure to experienced polo players and the sport. My daughter is a good intermediate rider and wanted to see if she would like polo. This group was so welcoming, kind and laid back. My daughter had a great time just watching and listening to them explain what was happening. Her time on the horse was just right. The average riding lesson in my experience is $75-$100 for 30/60 minutes. This gave my daughter 15/20 minutes on the horse to get the feel and as much time as we wanted to watch and talk with people. Well worth the price. Thank you so much!

My sister an I went to the beginners class on Saturday the 11th...we had the best time ever!!!!! Loved being back on horses as we grew up riding! I would go every day I'd it was closer to my house. Can't wait to go again!

It helps if you have some experience on a horse. After our first polo lesson it was recommended that we take a group riding lesson so that we would feel more comfortable on the horse and could move into the mechanics of the game of polo easier.

We had a great time! This is fun for all levels of riding! The horses were emaculate and obedient even if you don't know how to ride at all! We would definitely do it again!

Peter and is his daughter were very nice and we enjoyed the experience. Come prepared with boot type shoes - rather than sneakers. The horses were 'bomb proof' and easy to ride for newbies.
