To Angela Smith, the entire San Antonio area is a photography studio. A specialist in natural-light photography, Angela conducts outdoor, on-location shoots, typically at locales of her clients’ choosing. The natural process allows her subjects to pose at venues of personal significance, such as the site of a marriage proposal or the site of a taffy-factory accident that left them attached together. During shoots, Angela often eschews conventional poses in favor of candid, active shots, encouraging her clients to relax and have fun while in front of the lens. Though each photo shoot is a collaborative process between client and photographer, Angela recommends that most shoots take place either before 10 a.m. or in the late afternoon or evening in order to work in the most ideal lighting conditions and allow for the extremely long lunches her camera demands.
