Visitors can stop and smell 1,700 rose bushes as they leisurely stroll through Fuller Gardens. Originally the summer estate of Massachusetts governor Alvan T. Fuller and his wife, the rose gardens were commissioned by Fuller in the late 1920s. After his death in 1958, the botanical gardens were opened to the public. In addition to its meticulously maintained rose gardens, the lush, blooming landscape is home to English perennials, a conservatory filled with tropical plants, and a Japanese garden with a koi pond.
