About The Branch Museum of Architecture and Design

The museum is located in the Branch House, a Tudor Revival mansion complete with a chapel-like studio, Long Gallery, and Great Hall. Today, this 1919 home hosts exhibitions focused on the benefits of thoughtful design in all aspects of life, and a permanent exhibit on the Branch home itself and its architect, John Russell Pope. He also designed the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and the National Archives Building in Washington, DC.

It was a very hot & humid day in RVA and the a/c was not working properly at the Museum. The upper floors were unbearable and very close with so many people. I could not bear the heat so I stayed on Floor 1 and enjoyed the exhibits explaining the design of the house & it's history. I would like to go back for a visit in the late fall when it is cooler. Guide was fantastic! Loved the house... Beautiful.

This was a tour I would not have even considered taking. One of my friends wanted to do it so I went along for the "ride". It's jewel, hidden away on Monument, in the Fan. lovely architecture and knowledgeable docents!
