This is a must do for Salem visitors. I go out on the Fane every year when I'm in Salem and I'll continue to do so. The crew is very friendly and the captain is quite knowledgeable about Salem history. I highly recommend the experience!

I had a wonderful experience today on the Fame. The captain is very knowledgeable, it was interesting to learn the history behind the Fame and privateers. If you’re interested, you can help pull the ropes to unfurl the sails! Added bonus: you get to see one of the cannons in action! I really enjoyed sailing in the Fame.

Excellent experience on the schooner Fame. The Captain gave the history of the schooner while under sail and pointed out the various locations en-route. The crew was outstanding. They allowed passengers to experience setting the sails and one was observed giving lessons on the various rope knots used on the vessel. With a constant breeze and full sails, it was fantastic opportunity to sit back and relax on a hot summer's day. Highly recommeded!

I've been on the Fame several times, and I plan to be back again. It's a great little trip - my only complaint would be that it's too short a trip! (I'd stay out all day - 2 hours is plenty for most people.) You can help hoist the sails and take a turn at the tiller if you like. You'll get a brief history lesson on privateers during the War of 1812. Kids can learn a few knots.

Beautiful night took our Grandchildren ages 10 and 12 and they loved it. The crew was great and very informative - taught us quite a bit about sailing and sailing when the ship was built. Go and have great time.
