About Amalgam Arts Atlanta

In chemistry, an amalgam is an alloy of two metals. As such, Amalgam Arts Atlanta celebrates handmade metal jewelry in more ways than one. Equal parts gallery, studio, and school, the studio guides students through the finer points of making bangles and baubles, rings, pendants, and other pieces of eye-catching jewelry. Workshops and classes give participants a taste of the trade, letting them saw metals, solder pieces, and gnaw on gold to make sure it's real.

Wendy is a great teacher! She's patient and explains things in detail so that you get to know why you do things in the order and way they should be done. I left the workshop with a beautiful sliver ring that I will enjoy showing off!

One of the best classes I’ve ever taken. Wendy Tonsits is an awesome patient instructor. Although my class was full, everyone got to work at their own pace and we also had the extra benefit of looking at each other’s work and having friendly conversations. Highly recommend this fun class with a thorough teacher.

I had so much fun and I love my ring! I have always wanted to make jewelry but never knew enough to actually get started. I learned a lot in one lesson--I had never done any soldering before, I learned to size and texture a ring, and how to attach a bezel, set a stone, and polish my finished ring. And I did it all myself, except for some help with the soldering. I went alone, but this would also be a great group project.

This class was amazing! Wendy is a great teacher. She creates a wonderful space for us to create a beautiful ring with no expertise at all. I am looking forward to creating more jewelry with her, and my friends, in the future. This type of class would be a great team event for creative professionals!!

This was hands down one of the best purchases I have ever made. Wendy is clear, concise & very patient instructor. I took the 5 week class, & Wendy was great at keeping us on track yet helping each student at their pace and style. I would love to take it again. Please note: if you're coming from the north, please leave about 2 hrs earlier than class time, because traffic getting there is rough.
