About Chef Shop

After producing a children's educational video about local produce and healthy eating called Earth to Table, ChefShop founders Tim Mar and Eliza Ward capitalized on their passion for locally sourced fare in 1998 with an extensive online database of artisan farmers and food experts. Today, ChefShop connects shoppers with top-shelf ingredients and produce, from free-range turkeys to fruit from central Washington or Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese from Italy. Before stocking them on their virtual shelves, the ChefShop team ensures each item is raised and developed using time-honored techniques and is run through a gauntlet of quality-assurance taste tests, meetings with farmers, and food fights with the preeminent experts in food fights: middle-school rebels.

Clients peruse the ever-updated inventory for goodies such as sustainable line-caught seafood, decades-aged balsamic vinegar, or rare Sardinian bottarga, filling their kitchen repertoire with handy recipes along with the top-shelf ingredients. Aspiring cooks master a range of cooking styles under professional chefs in ChefShop's cooking classes, ranging from the creation of rich Italian pastas to fashioning delectable small plates and tapas.

Excellent cooking class, which was French bistro cooking with Chef Gins Ogazi. We learned good cooking techniques and received good recipes. However, it was too much marketing of ChefShop ingredients that were listed in the recipes although I did appreciate that there was no hard-sell on ChefShop products. We were able to sample some of them, such as the red wine vinegar— taste-bud opening!

Cooking techniques were simply explained. We got to taste every ingredient as it was going in and learned about quality/flavor substitutions

Get there before the cooking class starts and enjoy some wine and a little snack before the demonstration. You will get to sample some of the many products sold at ChefShop. Lots of ample parking in the lot next to the costume shop!

The class was fun. Good food and wine. It was a bit more of a food class then a cooking class, and the bulk of the evening was spent educating us on Chefshops products. Still interesting, but I didn't learn much about actual cooking.

Karen was awesome; fun and entertaining! The food she cooked was full of aromatics and wonderful favors. A little less technical talk about GMOs and other things I can't remember or spell! More conversation on culture, food and how to's would be more interesting for me but to each their own. I'll go back good value.
